Origen/Origin: Nativo/Native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un helecho terrestre, raro, en el oeste de Puerto Rico en elevaciones bajas. Principales regiones geográficas conforme a Axelrod (2011): Cordillera Occidental (Maricao). Áreas botánicamente únicas conforme a Axelrod (2011): ninguna. Conocido de dos colecciones muy viejas de Adjuntas en 1886 (Sintenis 3977 US) y Cayey en 1901 (Underwood & Griggs 432 NY, US) y una colección más reciente de Maricao en 1982 (Liogier 32730 UPR) (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011); aparentemente no fue vista en campo por Proctor. Incluida como parte de la flora existente por Axelrod, basado en el espécimen de Liogier. Proctor sugirió que su hábitat en Puerto Rico era bancos sobreados húmedos en elevaciones medias (400-800 m). Él también notó que Maxon (1926, 1947) lo creía ser más común en Puerto Rico, quizá confundiéndolo con el más común T. resinifera.

A rare terrestrial fern in western Puerto Rico at low elevations. Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Western Cordillera (Maricao). Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none. Known from two very old collections from Adjuntas in 1886 (Sintenis 3977 US) and Cayey in 1901 (Underwood & Griggs 432 NY, US) and one more recent collection from Maricao in 1982 (Liogier 32730 UPR) (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011); apparently not seen in the field by Proctor. Included as part of the extant flora by Axelrod, based on the Liogier specimen. Proctor suggested its habitat in Puerto Rico was moist shaded banks at middle elevations (400-800 m). He also noted that Maxon (1926, 1947) believed it to be more common in Puerto Rico, perhaps confusing it with the more common T. resinifera.
