Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks from the upper Keys to the lower Keys.  Mapped by Elbert L. Little, Jr. (1978) for Key Largo and then disjunct to the lower Florida Keys.  We consider this native to the upper Keys (Key Largo) and the lower Keys.  This appears to have been extirpated on Key Largo, but has now become reestablished from the progeny of cultivated plants.
