Native Range: The West Indies (Bahamas, Greater Antilles) and South Florida.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for pinelands, shrublands and coppices throughout the Archipelago (Grand Bahama to the Turks and Caicos Islands and the Anguilla Cays). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 850-854, with illustrations) for pinelands, shrublands and coppices throughout the Archipelago (regions 10-1, 11).
