South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated within its natural range in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 56-57) as 
Acacia choriophylla based on the last verifiable native population being vouchered in 1968 on Key Largo. It was rediscovered in the Upper Florida Keys, and is also widely cultivated.
