Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un arbusto raro recolectado por Plée y conocido solo de la descripción tipo (Britton & Wilson 1925 [VI(1):14], Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier 1995 [IV:58], Liogier & Martorell 2000). Excluido por Axelrod (2011) como una presencia dudosa, pero aceptada como especie aceptada para Puerto Rico por Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012, 2016) y otros.

A rare shrub collected by Plée and known only from the type description (Britton & Wilson 1925 [VI(1):14], Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier 1995 [IV:58], Liogier & Martorell 2000). Excluded by Axelrod (2011) as a doubtful occurrence, but accepted as a valid species by Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2012, 2016) and others.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996), y como una especie reportada como no observada recientemente por Liogier & Martorell (1982) por Figueroa Colon (1996, Tabla 5). Nunca fue listada como el DRNA. Miller et al. (2012b) le dieron un rango global provisional como En Peligro Crítico usando los criterios de la Lista Roja de la IUCN, basado en una localidad. Sin embargo, basado en la evidencia a la mano, la clasificamos como extinta en la isla de Puerto Rico y globalmente.

This was listed as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996), and as a species reported as not recently observed by Liogier & Martorell (1982) by Figueroa Colon (1996, Table 5). It was never listed by DNER. Miller et al. (2012b) gave it a provisional global rank of Critically Endangered using the IUCN Red List criteria, based on one location. However, based on the evidence at hand, we rank it as extinct on the island of Puerto Rico and globally.
