Historia y distribución/History and distribution:
Un helecho terrestre, raro, conocido solo de varias colecciones hechas entre 1885 y 1924. Recolectado en 1885 por Sintenis (2589 NY, US) e la Sierra de Yabucoa, en 1886 por Sintenis (5255 NY) cerca de Yabucoa, en 1911 por Brother Crisostoma (121 US) en Río Piedras, y en 1924 por N.L. & E.G. Britton (8098 NY, SJ, US) cerca de Pueblo Viejo en Guaynabo (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011). Proctor describió su hábitat como “Bosque de laderas” en elevaciones bajas a medias (20-500 m); en otros lugares frecuentemente crece sobre o cerca de bancos de arroyos. No hay registros de esta en MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, com. email 2016).

A rare terrestrial fern known only from several collections made between 1885 and 1924. Collected in 1885 by Sintenis (2589 NY, US) in the Sierra de Yabucoa, in 1886 by Sintenis (5255 NY) near Yabucoa, in 1911 by Brother Crisostoma (121 US) in Río Piedras, and in 1924 by N.L. & E.G. Britton (8098 NY, SJ, US) near Pueblo Viejo in Guaynabo (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011). Proctor described its habitat as “Hillside forest” at low to middle elevations (20-500 m); elsewhere it often grows on or near stream banks. There are no records of this at MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, email comm. 2016).
