Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un arbusto raro conocido solo de especímenes viejos. Recolectado una vez por Sintenis en Bayamón en 1885 (1081 US) y en 1886 (6128). Reportada para terrenos muy húmedos cerca de Bayamón y Lares por Britton & Wilson (V[4], p. 561). Citada por Axelrod (2011) como un taxón no recolectado recientemente. No hay registros recientes de esta en MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, com. email 2016).

A rare shrub known only from old specimens. Collected by Sintenis in Bayamón in 1885 (1081 US) and in 1886 (6128). Reported for wet ground near Bayamón and Lares by Britton & Wilson (V[4], p. 561). Listed as a taxon not recently collected by Axelrod (2011). There are no recent records of this at MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, email comm. 2016).

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue listada por primera vez como una especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 274). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988, 1999 (como en peligro crítico) y 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 274). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 (as critically imperiled) and 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or Figueroa Colon (1996).
