Presencia/Occurence: Presuntamente extirpado o extinto/Presumed extirpated or extinct.

Origen/Origin: Nativo/Native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un helecho epífito, raro, recolectado una vez en 1915 por N.L. Britton y otros (4444 US) en Barrio Indiera Fria, Maricao donde estaba creciendo sobre un tronco caído en un bosque de montaña (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011). Crece frecuentemente sobre los troncos musgosos de palmas arbóreas en otras partes de su distribución (Proctor 1989). No hay registros recientes de esta en MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, com. email 2016).

A rare epiphytic fern collected once in 1915 by N.L. Britton and others (4444 US) in Barrio Indiera Fria, Maricao where it was growing on a log in a mountain forest (Maxon 1926, Liogier & Martorell 1982, Proctor 1989, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Axelrod 2011). It often grows on the mossy trunks of palm trees in other parts of its range (Proctor 1989). There are no recent records of this at MAPR (Jeanine Vélez, email comm. 2016).

Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988, 1999 (como posiblemente extirpada) y 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 362). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 (as possible extirpated) and 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or by Figueroa Colon (1996).
