Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un bejuco raro en el noroeste de Puerto Rico en elevaciones bajas. Principales regiones geográficas conforme a Axelrod (2011): Colinas Calizas del Norte. Áreas botánicamente únicas conforme a Axelrod (2011): ninguna. Extremadamente rara. Previamente conocida de una sola colección en 1888 por Stahl (870 US) en Vega Baja (Liogier & Martorell 2000, Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Recolectado en 2001 por James Ackerman y Eugenio Santiago en la Reserva Natural Mata de Plátano en Arecibo.

A rare vine in northwestern Puerto Rico at low elevations. Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Northern Limestone Hills. Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none. Extremely rare. Previously known from a single collection in 1888 by Stahl (870 US) in Vega Baja (Liogier & Martorell 2000, Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Collected in 2001 by James Ackerman and Eugenio Santiago in the Mata de Plátano Natural Reserve in Arecibo.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue listada por primera vez como especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 152). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988, 1999 y 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 152). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 and 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or Figueroa Colon (1996).
