Presencia/Occurence: Reportado/Reported.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Reportada en bosques cerca de Guánica por Britton & Wilson (1924) y subsecuentemente por Liogier & Martorell (1982), Liogier (1988 [II:255]), y Liogier & Martorell (2000) pero nunca verificada con especímenes confirmados (Axelrod 2011). Posiblemente recolectada en 1991 por C.M. Taylor (10460 MO) en Guayanilla, pero este espécimen necesita ser chequeado. Hay también un espécimen recolectado por Sintenis (3794) en 1886 de la “Sierra de Naguabo ad Rio Blanco”, reportado en línea en el herbario US de datos tomados de la literatura (M. Strong, com. email); este espécimen no ha sido localizado.

Reported for woodlands near Guánica by Britton & Wilson (1924) and subsequently by Liogier & Martorell (1982), Liogier (1988 [II:255]), and Liogier & Martorell (2000) but never verified with confirmed specimens (Axelrod 2011). Possibly collected in 1991 by C.M. Taylor (10460 MO) in Guayanilla, but this specimen needs to be checked. There is also a specimen collected by Sintenis (3794) in 1886 from “Sierra de Naguabo ad Rio Blanco” reported online at the US herbarium from data drawn from the literature (M. Strong, email comm.); this physical specimen has not been located.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue listada por primera vez como especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 383). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988, 1999 y 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 383). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 and 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or Figueroa Colon (1996).
