South Florida History and Distribution: First collected in South Florida between 1838 and 1853 by John Loomis Blodgett on the island of Key West (s.n. NY), and labeled as "Introduced".  

SOUTH FLORIDA Cultivated Status: Cultivated

Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks and disturbed areas on the island of Key West.  We consider this nonnative and naturalized from the upper Keys to the lower Keys.
