Florida Keys History and Distribution: Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks from the upper Keys to the lower Keys.  However, Elbert L. Little, Jr. (1978) maps this only for the upper Keys south to about Lower Matecumbe Key in the middle Keys.  We consider this native and extant in the upper Keys and middle Keys south to Lower Matecumbe Key and cultivated and naturalized in the remainder of the middle and lower Keys.
