South Florida History and Distribution: Recent conservation work at Big Cypress National Park used high-powered microscopes to differentiate threatened
Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp.
austrofloridense from more widespread
Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp.
reclinatum. This research found more individuals of
Sideroxylon reclinatum subsp.
austrofloridense present than were previously known. (

Florida Keys History and Distribution: Not reported for the Florida Keys by John Kunkel Small in 1913. Known from a single collection from Key Largo in 1948 (Jackson s.n. FTG) determined as this by Corogin & Judd (2014). It seems likely that this collection was from the historic pine rockland on North Key Largo.
