Native Range: Scattered in the eastern and southeastern United States, the West Indies, Mexico and Central America (Belize).

Florida Keys History and Distribution: First collected between 1838 and 1853 by John Loomis Blodgett on the island of Key West.  Reported in 1913 by John Kunkel Small for sandy shores and disturbed sites in the lower Keys.  There are a number of reports from the upper Keys, where it was finally vouchered by Keith Bradley in 2001.  We consider this native and extant in the upper Keys and lower Keys.
