South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as possibly extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 161-162) based on 1897 and 1978 collections from Sewell's Point and nearby Rocky Point in Martin County, and several collections and observations between 1915 and 1980 from Pumpkin Key and Key Largo in the northern Florida Keys; the last plants from Pumpkin Key were removed from the wild in 1980 just prior to the development of the island. No new records are known.
