1913 by John Kunkel Small for hammocks and pinelands in the lower Keys. Mapped by Elbert L. Little, Jr. (1978) for the upper Keys (Key Largo) and the lower Keys. We consider this native to the upper Keys (Key Largo), middle Keys (Lignumvitae Key) and the lower Keys.
