Gann et al. 2002; pp 81-82) based on a single collection in 1964 from Ramrod Key by George N. Avery. Cultivated plants of either
Hypolepis barringtonii or
Hypolepis repens (see below) may be present in South Florida in botanical gardens or private collections.

Comments: Florida material has been described as a Florida endemic (Schwartsburd 2018, Weakley 2022, Wunderlin et al. 2023),
Hypolepis barringtonii, which is a generally smaller plant with fewer prickles than
