SOUTH FLORIDA Occurrence: Assumed to be Present

SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native

South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 81-82) based on a single collection in 1964 from Ramrod Key by George N. Avery. Cultivated plants of either Hypolepis barringtonii or Hypolepis repens (see below) may be present in South Florida in botanical gardens or private collections.

SOUTH FLORIDA Cultivated Status: Formerly Cultivated

Comments: Florida material has been described as a Florida endemic (Schwartsburd 2018, Weakley 2022, Wunderlin et al. 2023), Hypolepis barringtonii, which is a generally smaller plant with fewer prickles than Hypolepis repens in the narrow sense.
