Native Range: The West Indies (Bahamas, Cuba, Cayman Islands, Hispaniola), peninsular Florida, southern Mexico, Central America and South America.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh. Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 279-280 as T. circinnata) as an epiphyte on shrubs and small trees in soil pockets of rock flats, especially in wetlands or scrublands, throughout the Archipelago (regions 10-1).
