History in the Bahamas:
Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh as naturalized from cultivation in thickets on New Providence, near Nassau. Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 1142-1143, with illustrations) for thickets and open, disturbed areas in the northwestern and central Commonwealth (regions 8, 4).
