History in the Bahamas: Described in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh (as Gerardia bracteosa) and reported for disturbed areas and coppices in the southeastern Commonwealth (Mayaguana and possibly Acklins Island). Reported by Correll & Correll (1356-1357, with illustrations) for disturbed areas and coppice edges in the northwestern and southeastern Commonwealth (regions 10, 3). Limited to the Mayaguana and Ababo regions according to Freid et al. (2014).
