Sida veronicifolia Lam.
Ivy-leaved Sida

Family: Malvaceae

Group: Dicot

Perennation: Perennial

Habit: Herb

Substrate: Terrestrial

Native Status: Assumed to be Native

Preliminary IRC Status: Taxonomic review needed. National assessment needed.

Native Range: South America; also reported for the Bahamas and Central America, where very rare and scattered.

Map of Locations [currently Florida only]

History in the Bahamas: Reported by Britton & Millspaugh (1920) for waste places and roadsides on Grand Bahama at Eight Mile Rocks (as Sida hederaefolia). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 948) as very rare along shaded woodland paths and in thin coppices in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 10). The Flora of the West Indies (see link below) treats as possibly native (“native?”). It seems likely that plants in the Bahamas are Sida cordata or Sida repens; more work is needed.

Synonyms: Sida hederaefolia [orth. var.] of Britton & Millspaugh (1920), not Cav.
