History in the Bahamas:
Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for a cave on East Caicos, where it grew with N. biserrata. Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 30) for the shelter of caves, on rocky banks and on tree trunks in the northwestern and southeastern Archiipelago (regions 10, 1); the only specimen cited for region 1 is at NY, so it is not clear that this was ever observed by the Corrells in the Turks and Caicos islands. Also collected on Cat Island by Ethan Freid (
225 FTG) in 2000.
