History in the Bahamas:
Not listed in Britton & Millspaugh (1920). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 324-326) from grassy slopes around settlements in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 10). This species is apparently endemic to the West Indies (see
Flora of the West Indies), but no longer found in the wild (Howard 1979, Correll & Correll 1982).
