Native Range: The West Indies (Lesser Antilles, Greater Antilles, Bahamas?), North America, Mexico and Central America; now a weed throughout much of the world.

Comments: Although cited as native to the West Indies in the Flora of the West Indies (see link below), Correll & Correll (1982) described it as native to temperate North America and an introduced weed elsewhere.
