History in the Bahamas: In thickets and coastal coppices and along the edges of marshes; nearly throughout the archipelago (Correll & Correll, 1982). For an image of a type specimen collected on Mayaguana Island by Percy Wilson in 1907, visit the New York Botanical Garden Virtual Herbarium.
