Native Range: Old World; widely naturalized in the New World tropics.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh as naturalizing in disturbed areas and cultivated fields nearly throughout the Archipelago (New Providence, Eleuthera, Little San Salvador, Cat Island, Long Island, Fortune Island, East Caicos, Dellis’ Cay, Salt Cay and Grand Turk). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 1149-1150, with illustrations) for disturbed areas, nearly throughout the Archipelago (regions 8-3, 1).
