Native Range: The West Indies, peninsular Florida, southern Mexico and Central America.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for coppices and scrublands in the northwestern Commonwealth (Abaco, Grand Bahama, New Providence, Eleuthera). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 1078-1080, with illustrations) for coppices and scrublands in the northwestern Commonwealth (regions 10-8).
