History in the Bahamas: Not listed by Britton & Millspaugh (1920). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 271-273, with illustrations), for open coppices, rocky open soils and abandoned cultivated areas in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 9). Introduced from South America.
