History in the Bahamas:
Not listed in Britton & Millspaugh (1920). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 469) for disturbed areas in the northwestern Commonwealth (region 8). Although treated as native to the Bahamas in Correll & Correll and the Flora of the West Indies (Acevedo-Rodriguez & Strong 2012), this more likely represents a recent non-native introduction.
