Native Range: The West Indies, peninsular Florida, Mexico, Central America and South America.

History in the Bahamas: Reported in 1920 by Britton & Millspaugh for caves, sinkholes and "steps" in the northwestern Commonwealth (Abaco, Andros, New Providence, Eleuthera). Reported by Correll & Correll (1982: 21) for walls of sinkholes, caves and rock ledges in the northwestern and central Commonwealth (regions 10-4).
