South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 548-550) based on two occurrences in two conservation areas and one non-conservation area (Jonathan Dickinson State Park and Jupiter Cemetery; Jupiter Ridge Natural Area), the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area with just one plant. Using updated NatureServe criteria there are probably at least three occurrences in that area. This species is now widely cultivated, including translocation efforts into conservation areas outside of its historical range.
