South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 321-322) based on one occurrence in one conservation area (Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve) and fragmented occurrences on several private properties in Collier County. While many populations on private property are assumed destroyed, an extant population has been verified at Railhead Scrub in Collier County, and an herbarium specimen was collected at the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge in 2010.
