South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 91-92) based on three collections between 1877 and 1922; one presumably from Brickell Hammock just south of the Miami River, and two from Hattie Bauer Hammock in southern Miami-Dade County. No new records are known. This is widely cultivated in South Florida from material outside of our area. See
