SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native

South Florida History and Distribution: While ranked as possibly extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 168-169) as Reimarochloa oligostachya as it was last collected in 1977 from Lower Captiva Island. This species was rediscovered in South Florida and in 2004 was ranked as critically imperiled. Today it is known from three protected areas, though this species is likely underreported. It was reassessed in 2025 using updated NatureServe criteria and the rank of critically imperiled was retained.
