SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native, Extirpated then Reintroduced

South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as presumed extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al., 2002; pp 87-88) based on several collections from Miami-Dade County between 1916 (JK Small 7268, FLAS, NY) and 1943 (WM Buswell s.n., FLAS). Since 2002 this species has been reintroduced from cultivated plants. It is widely cultivated and has become naturalized well outside of its historical range nearly throughout South Florida.
