SOUTH FLORIDA Native Status: Native

South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as historical in Rare Plants of South Florida (Gann et al. 2002; pp 147-148), this species was known only from two collections from Cape Sable and Big Pine Key in 1982. The more widespread Harrisia simpsonii was placed into synonymy under Harrisia fragrans (Franck 2012, 2013, 2016). Using updated NatureServe criteria, it was ranked as imperiled in 2024.
