South Florida History and Distribution: We have historically treated this as naturalized in South Florida from cultivated plants, but recent collections from Charlotte County by Alan Franck (1798 USF, 2957 USF) appear to be natural extensions of populations in DeSoto and Sarasota counties. However, plants collected in Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Martin County beginning in 1978 (e.g. Popenoe & Roberts 1140 FLAS) and plants collected in Palm Beach County in 2009 (Lietzky s.n. USF) appear to be naturalized from cultivated plants.
