South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as possibly extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; p 134) based on a single 1964 collection in Collier County near the intersection of the Collier, Lee, and Hendry counties. That area has been converted to groves. No new records are known.
Comments: Plants attributed to this in Big Cypress National Preserve are
C. mariana.
