South Florida History and Distribution: A rare terrestrial orchid in southeastern Florida in Miami-Dade County. It was discovered in the United States in 1953 by John Beckner in the Long Pine Key area of Everglades National Park (Luer 1972, Hammer 2001, Gann et al. 2002). See also, IRC’s book
