Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Eastern Coast, Sierra de Luquillo, Caguas Valley, Sierra de Cayey, Eastern Cordillera, Western Cordillera, Northern Coastal Lowlands, Northern Limestone Hills, Western Coast. Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Ipomoea palustris, ahora puesta en sinonimia bajo este taxón de amplia distribución, fue descrita por primera vez como una especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 26). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988 y 1999 (como ambas I. palustris y I. setifera), pero fue removida de la lista de 2007. No fue listada subsecuentemente como especie rara.

Ipomoea palustris, now placed into synonymy under this wider ranging taxon, was first described as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 26). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988 and 1999 (as both I. palustris and I. setifera), but was removed from the list in 2007. It was not subsequently listed as a rare species.
