Origen/Origin: Dudosamente nativa/Doubtfully native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: Un junco raro recolectado por Ledru (s.n., probably P) antes de 1804 (Britton & Wilson 1930 [VI(4):525], Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Recolectado por Henri Liogier (29030 UPR) en el Jardín Botánico en la Universidad de Puerto Rico en Río Piedras y citado como cultivado ahí, pero probablemente creciendo también sin cultivarse (Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2005, 2012) y Axelrod (2011) consideraron que representa una introducción temporal en Puerto Rico y no un componente nativo de la flora.

A rare sedge collected by Ledru (s.n., probably P) before 1804 (Britton & Wilson 1930 [VI(4):525], Liogier & Martorell 1982, Liogier & Martorell 2000, Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Collected by Henri Liogier (29030 UPR) at the Botanical Garden at the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras and cited as cultivated there, but probably growing also without cultivation (Acevedo-Rodríguez 2005). Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2005, 2012) and Axelrod (2011) considered this to represent a short-term introduction to Puerto Rico and not a native component of the flora.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue listada por primera vez como una especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (especie No. 203). Fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988, 1999 y 2007. No fue incluida como una especie conocida de tres o menos localidades en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes por Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) o por Figueroa Colon (1996).

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (species No. 203). It was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988, 1999 and 2007. It was not included as a species known from three or fewer locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by Figueroa Colon & Woodbury (1996) or by Figueroa Colon (1996).
