Notas/Notes: This is very similar to Bulbostylis junciformis and included as a synonym under that name by some authors (see Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong 2005). The distribution notes in Axelrod (2011) are unclear and infer that this species is not native to the West Indies.

Origen/Origin: Nativo/Native.

Historia y distribución/History and distribution: A rare sedge scattered at low elevations. Major geographic regions following Axelrod (2011): Northern Limestone Hills (Moca, Aguada). Botanically unique areas following Axelrod (2011): none. Reported as collected in 1908 by F.H. Sargent (613 US) in Aguada and in 1969 by R. Delgado Montano (108 MAPR) in Moca. The specimen collected by Delgado Montano was cited as being Bulbostylis stenocarpa in Axelrod (2011), but as Bulbostylis antillana in the MAPR herbarium online (2016); Acevedo-Rodríguez & Strong (2005) also reported this from Moca. It was also reported as collected in 1960 by Roy Woodbury (a.n. 3214 MAPR online) in Maricao State Forest. Assuming that Bulbostylis junciformis was misapplied to this by Woodbury et al. (1975), Liogier & Martorell (1982) and others, then this was also reported for Laguna Tortuguero. There do not appear to be any modern collections.

Notas de Conservación/Conservation Notes: Fue listada por primera vez como una especie rara en Puerto Rico por Woodbury et al. (1975), quienes la clasificaron como una especie en peligro no endémica de Puerto Rico (como Bulbostylis junciformis, especie No. 192). Bulbostylis junciformis fue listada como Elemento Crítico por el DRNA en 1988 y 1999, pero fue removida en 2007.

This was first listed as a rare species in Puerto Rico by Woodbury et al. (1975), who classified it as an endangered species not endemic to Puerto Rico (as Bulbostylis junciformis, species No. 192). Bulbostylis junciformis was listed as a Critical Element by DNER in 1988 and 1999, but was removed from the list in 2007.
