South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 207-208) based one occurrence on a roadside on Ramrod Key in Monroe County. This population is still present and an ex-situ collection has been established at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden (Woodmansee 2022).
