South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 485-487) based on five occurrences in four protected areas (Camp Owaissa Bauer; Castellow Hammock Park; Fuchs Hammock Preserve; Hattie Bauer Hammock) and one non-protected area (a portion of privately owned Krome Hammock). It had been reported previously for Everglades National Park and was verified in 2004, and additional plants were found in the Castellow Hammock area in 2006.
