Ranked as critically imperiled in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 276-278) based on two occurrences in one protected area (Fred C. Babcock-Cecil M. Webb Wildlife Management Area) and one non-protected area (a roadside swale next to Tamiami Village in North Fort Myers). It was subsequently discovered at several nearby locations.
