South Florida History and Distribution: Ranked as possibly extirpated in Rare Plants of South Florida (
Gann et al. 2002; pp 155-156), as it was last collected in 1986 in North Fort Myers and last observed in 1993 in Hendry County. This species was rediscovered in South Florida and is now known from seven protected areas. It was reassessed in 2006 using updated NatureServe criteria ranked as critically imperiled.
