General Landscape Uses: Generally a weed of disturbed sites. Not recommended for general landscape use.

Range: Southeastern United States, the West Indies, Mexico, Central America and South America; naturalized in Hawaii and elsewhere.

Habitats: A wide variety of wetland and disturbed habitats.

Soils: Moist to wet, well-drained or occasionally inundated freshwater soils.

Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate long-term flooding by salt or brackish water.

Flower Color: Green.

Flower Characteristics: Inconspicuous

Flowering Season: Year-round.
