Description: Deciduous, clump-forming wildflower 1-2 feet tall. Showy pink-blue-lavender flowers appear on tall stalks above the leaves.
Dimensions: Typically 1-2 feet in height.
Growth Rate: Fast.
Range:
Eastern and central United States scattered south to Gadsden county.

Habitats: Open woods and roadsides.
Soils: Moist, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.
Nutritional Requirements: Low to moderate; it can grow in nutrient poor soils or soils with some organic content.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Low; salt wind may burn the leaves.
Drought Tolerance: Moderate; generally requires moist soils, but tolerant of short periods of drought once established.
Light Requirements: Light shade.
Flower Color: Pink-blue-lavender.
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: Spring.
Fruit: 1-inch long pods.
