Shrubby wildflower for sandy locations.
Availability:
Rarely grown by native plant nurseries.
Description: Bushy branched evergreen shrub 3 feet tall. Grayish green leaves. Clusters of yellow flowers.
Dimensions: Typically 3 feet in height.
Range:
Rare in the southeastern United States south to the Florida Panhandle from Wakulla County west.

Habitats: Scrub, dunes, sandhills
Soils: Moist to dry, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.
Nutritional Requirements: Low; it grows in nutrient poor soils.
Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.
Salt Wind Tolerance: Moderate; grows near salt water, but is protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.
Drought Tolerance: High; does not require any supplemental water once established.
Light Requirements: Full sun.
Flower Color: Yellow
Flower Characteristics: Showy.
Flowering Season: Late summer to fall.
Fruit: Hard, bristled achenes
