General Landscape Uses: Wildflower gardens, borders.

Availability: Rarely grown by native plant nurseries.

Description: Biennial or perennial herb 1-2 feet tall with stems and leaves covered in white hairs. Yellow flowers in a flat-topped array.

Dimensions: Typically 1-2 feet in height, often as broad as tall.

Range: Endemic to central Florida in Highlands, Hardee, Manatee, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties.

Habitats: Scrub, sandhills

Soils: Moist to dry, well-drained sandy soils, without humus.

Salt Water Tolerance: Low; does not tolerate flooding by salt or brackish water.

Salt Wind Tolerance: Moderate; grows near salt water, but is protected from direct salt spray by other vegetation.

Drought Tolerance: High; does not require any supplemental water once established.

Light Requirements: Full sun.

Flower Color: Yellow

Flower Characteristics: Showy.

Flowering Season: Fall.
